La Liga Filipina vs Atlantic Assassins

There was a lot of hype going into the day 17 match up between La Liga Filipina and the Atlantic Assassins. There was a player (Kill Joy) guaranteeing victory and there was also a former Assassin (Laurent Diederich) telling the fans he was going to give them some more to boo about.

Once the action got under way a new addition to La Liga (Psycho Hrus) was showing why Coach goma_ricky had signed him to play for the team. In the first quarter alone he nabbed 11 steals. He did way more than that though he also shut down one of the Assassins' stars , William "Wiki" Kingston, to just 2 points. The other first quarter star for La Liga was former Assassin Laurent "Bird" Diederich. He managed to shoot 7 for 9 from the floor for 14 points. Overall La Liga's defense in the first was outstanding holding the Assassins to just 2 of 8 from the floor and 7 points. The score at the end of the first was La Liga-23, Assassins-7.


In the second quarter the game turned around a little for the Assassins as we saw the first appearance of Tracy Plooster in the game. He had a great second quarter scoring 14 points going 5 of 5 from the floor and 4 of 4 from the line. Also in the second quarter Henry Dreyfus made his presence known for the Assassins putting 10 on the board. Even though these two Assassin stars stepped it up in the second two La Liga stars also stepped up. Johannes Patric stepped up with 8 points and amazing 6 assists from the power forward position. The other star for La Liga was very underrated Magic Johnson. Manning the point position Magic put up 13 points to help La Liga keep the lead at the half. The score going into the half was La Liga-54, Assassins-35. This game was far from over though.


Anklebreaker, Assassin coach, must have given Wiki Kingston an earful because he came out in the third firing. He was 4 of 4 from the floor and 8 of 8 from the line for 16 points. He also fouled out Magic Johnson which severely hurt the offensive side of the ball for La Liga. Diederich still put up 12 points in the third but no one else put up more than 3 points. Even though Wiki had a huge third quarter it would have been even bigger if it was not for Magic's replacement Denok Miranda. He got everyone one of his 8 minutes in the third but he stepped up with 8 thefts. The Assassins played a great third quarter and had outscored La Liga by 8 in the third narrowing the lead to just 11 points going into the fourth.

The fourth quarter was no different for Tracy Plooster than the second. He did not miss a shot from the floor or from the line going 7 of 7 from the floor and 2 of 2 from the line respectively. Even though he had stepped up in the final quarter his teammates did not only scoring 6 points between the four of them. Even though La Liga was missing Magic, Johannes Patric stepped up his game scoring 14 points. This was enough for La Liga to keep the lead just like they had the whole game. The final score of this great game was La Liga-88, Assassins-82.


After the game reporters from the Bahamas Times caught up with the two coaches and here is what they had to say.

When Anklebreaker was asked what he thought of the game he had this to say, "I can't believe we lost i really thought we had this one...I'm not sure what happened during that first quarter how we only had 7 points and turnovers killed us we will be ready for the rematch."

When La Liga's coach goma_ricky was asked he was a little shocked and he only had this to say, "The Rum 151 gate-crashers got lucky again."
